Asia Cosplay Meet Malaysia '10

Listen up people of Johor! If you are a cosplayer, or inspired to be one (heh), mark you calendar because the first ever Asia Cosplay Meet (Malaysia) will be held in City Square Johor Bahru on Sunday, June 6, 2010.

For those who doesn't know what cosplay is, it is where you got to be the character that you are always fond of. You get to wear their costume and act like them. Cosplay is famous among anime, manga and role-playing games (RPG) fans.

The cosplay culture might be relatively new for Johorean and JOHO lovers but it is quite popular in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur where they will held regular meetings between cosplayers and photographers for photoshoot, or attend conventions such as the Games Anime Comic Circle (GACC), Anime Festival Asia and Asia Cosplay Meet itself.

You will get the chance to see the best cosplayers from Korea, Phillipines, Singapore and Malasia coming together to compete for the Number One Asia Cosplayer at the Asia Cosplay Meet on Sunday. The top 3 winners from ACM(Malaysia) will represent Malaysia to attend the Asia Cosplay Meet Final rounds in Singapore at 4th July 2010. Then the top 3 winners will be in Singapore from 1st July 2010 – 5th July 2010 for the Asia Cosplay Meet Championship, all travel and accommodation expenses will be paid for.

The winner for Final Rounds will get a chance to fly to Japan. For more information, please check here.

If you are interested to join in the competition, you can read the registration informatin HERE.

The Asia Cosplay Meet is produced by the Singapore Cosplay Club, and hosted by local organizer GAMEHUB.

By the way, this event is not limited to cosplayers only. GAMEHUB is organizing three days event for Johorean starting on 4th June from 11am to 10pm. Activities include Online Game Show, Trading Card Games (TGC), Board Games and many more. So be sure to join in the fun. Bring your kids along!

Below are some of the cosplay pictures taken by my friend LEon from Singapore, razrig and blur from Kuala Lumpur. You can see more photos of the cosplayers at their respective blogs.
